But the question is, has anyone made a spirit – the drinky sort, not the ghostly sort – out of ginger?
I mean, I love me a good ginger beer. I’m quite fond of Old Jamaica – the drink – and a conversation tonight led to brain-wracking over whether I’d ever seen a proper spirit made from ginger.
Like, you get whisky from various grains; rum from sugarcane or molasses; gin from… something something juniper something…; and vodka from absolutely anything you find lying around that isn’t a concrete block or an actual ostrich.
And even then…
And there’s various mulled wines made with ginger, and you can get vodka flavoured with ginger beer. But come on: no-one’s just sat down and distilled the shit out of some ginger?
