The Inconvenience of Californian Courts

I was all ready to sign up to the Everquest Next Landmark Founder’s pack – the game being in closed beta at the moment. And I was even happy to agree to confidentiality while the game’s in closed beta.

But I will be gosh-darned if I’m going to sign an agreement that requires me to accept jurisdiction of the Californian courts and waive any claim that the venue is ‘inconvenient’.

It doesn’t matter that I have no intention of breaching SOE’s confidentiality: things go wrong with online services and in the event of some technical glitch I’m not choosing between dragging myself out to California to be sued or being sued for not going.
